Lay of the Land

Plants & Coffee! Lay of the Land is a fantastic independent coffee house and garden centre. Headed up by Jimmie the youngest of the Lay family boys who trained at the Michelin starred Northcote Manor, the coffee and the food are top notch!

Run by Henry and Tash, the café itself can be found on the first floor of their wonderful shop, Car and Kitchen. Since they opened the café in March 2017 they have made it their  mission to champion local, seasonal and great quality produce. Its fab!

Hesketh Farm Park

There's a large cosy, undercover barn so that your day will be still fun-packed even if it’s chilly outside. There's loads to do, including feeding and stroking the animals, tractor rides, having fun inside – maybe in the giant sandpit or playing hide and seek in the straw maze.

Skipton

Skipton, often referred to as the "Gateway to the Dales", is a charming market town that effortlessly blends history, natural beauty, and modern amenities. Steeped in medieval heritage, Skipton is home to the impressive Skipton Castle, a well-preserved fortress that is well worth a visit.

The bustling High Street is lined with quaint shops, cafes, and traditional pubs, offering a taste of local delights and warm Yorkshire hospitality. Explore the picturesque Skipton Canal Basin, where narrowboats float peacefully along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, providing a serene backdrop for leisurely walks.

The Lake District

The Lake District is England's largest National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a wonderful place to visit with spectacular lakes, valleys and hills all around. Each valley has its own unique character and all are worth visiting and spending time in.

For outdoor pursuits the Lake District really has everything but it also has an enviable reputation for food and drink with 11 Michelin starred restaurants in the region and wonderful pubs and cafes everywhere you look.

The Courtyard Dairy

The Courtyard Dairy is a unique, specialist cheese-shop and cheese-maturer, owned and operated by Andy and Kathy Swinscoe.   In 2017 the shop expanded into new premises and at the same time a museum telling the history and story of farmhouse cheese, a café serving cheese-based dishes (and, of course, coffee!), and a cheese production room were added, alongside plenty of free on-site parking.
